Tomorrow’s the Big Day!

That’s right – the 2011 Vancouver Island Music Fest kicks off tomorrow.  Over the course of three days more than 50 acts from across Canada & the U.S.A. will take the stage at the Comox Exhibition Grounds in the lush Comox Valley.

The festival begins at 5:45 with the MarchFourth Marching Band in the Concert Bowl.  According to the VIMF site, MarchFourth is “a mobile big band spectacular, consisting of a brassy assemblage of saxophones, trombones, and trumpets and a raucous drum/percussion corps anchored by a wireless electric bass.”

Next up, at 7:15, is Red Horse, a folk trio comprised of artists John Gorka, Eliza Gilkyson & Lucy Kaplansky, followed by Corey Harris & the Rasta Blues Experience at 8:45 and magician Jeff McBride at 10:15.

Friday’s big finale will be a performance by two-time Grammy award winning hip-hop group Arrested Development.  Known since the late 80’s for their signature brand of upbeat, socially progressive hiphop, Arrested Development will take the stage around 11:00pm.

CFUV will be on hand with regular updates.  Check back daily to see what’s happening at the Vancouver Island Music Fest!
